Journal - Starting Information

-- "Hello there! My name is Kota and I'm here to help give Thoirnisk some explanation and shine a little light on our world to help you better understand what is actually going on. To begin with, let's start with the beginning of Thoirnisk."

To begin with, Thoirnisk was the same way it was now. It looked the same, felt the same, and even smelt the same. There were wolves that roamed and strived here... But not the kind like you and me. These wolves had either black or brown coats, were 10 feet long, 8 feet tall. They were barbaric and savages. They had no mutations and no markings. They were just them. We call them the Djurs and we call the time period when they were here the Djur Treem.

The Djur Treem lasted 500 years, the land was constantly being torn. The world somehow managed to stick through the chaos. Finally, one pack of Djurs began to slaughter lots in many ways, often brutally. The Spirit Wolves had enough with the behavior, and decided mass genocide and extinction of the Djurs would be best.

The Spirit Wolves are divine spirits that watch over Thoirnisk. They are the guardians and the soul of Thoirnisk. There is five of them.

A spirit wolf has two forms. It's physical and it's spirit form. They can appear in whatever form they want.

 It's physical form is plain with no mutations. Simply regular. They can take on any size while in their physical form so it's constantly changing. Their color, however, stays the same.

 Their spirit form is a smoky, ghostly form. They still maintain certain characteristics in this form, such as their posture and face shapes. For example, Spear's scar can still be seen. Certain shades of their physical form can be faintly seen in a greyscale version. They can be any size in this form as well but tend to be very large.

SUMMONING ::

Summoning a Spirit Wolf is not hard at all but it must be done respectfully and appropriately. A small prayer sent up is efficient but they usually show up in a dire time of pleading.

GIFTS/CURSES ::

Gifts or curses can be given to characters if a Spirit Wolf feels like they have deserved it. Certain things can include the following ::

  • Small Abilities :: Small abilities like pulling a pint of water from the ground.

  • New Mutations :: They can be permanent or temporary depending on what the Spirit Wolf intends it to be for. Something like small horns protruding from your shoulders.

  • Temporary Disability :: Such as blindness for two threads, limp leg for a thread, etc.

  • Soul Trace :: A soul trace is like a companion. Once awarded, the companion is bonded with the character's soul. A connection is formed and they may communicate telepathically. The form of a Soul Trace is completely random and up to the Spirit Wolf.

  • Spirit Trace :: A Spirit Trace is a much more common form of a Soul Trace. Instead of taking the actual form of an animal though, they appear as an apparition, taking the form of a white smoky outline of their 'animal'. Their back half fades to a trail of smoke that disappears behind them as they move. Though they can pass through solid objects, they can also touch things. However, it requires a lot of energy to pick up and carry things.

  • Random :: Random things can happen, but rest assured, they will not permanently cause harm to your character or death.

"Spirit Wolves can be tricky, but they can also be helpful. No one knows how old they are or how they got here. They do not disclose such information with us mortals. However, they did tell us why and how we were put here, not too long ago." --

After the destruction and fall of the Djur Treem, Thoirnisk went silent for 5 years. The earth slowly rebuilt itself from the chaos and destruction and emerged it's beautiful natural self. No trace of the Djurs were left. The Spirit Wolves came together and decided that there should be another chance given to another type. They called us Ny Ers (new ones) but it was eventually pushed together and transformed into Nyers. We split into packs and went our seperate ways. The Spirit Wolves gave us different qualities and traits... they gave us intelligence. 20 years later, we still roam Thoirnisk and here we are today. Standing on the overgrown ashes of our terrible others.
